Digging for treasure with Ben Tennyson turns out to be surprisingly absorbing. Ben 10 Gold Digger puts players underground, tunneling through layers of earth in search of gold and gems while dodging whatever dangers happen to be lurking in the dark. The whole thing has a satisfying rhythm to it — dig, collect, avoid, repeat — but with enough variation to keep things from feeling mechanical.

What works here is the tension between greed and survival. Go deeper for bigger rewards, or play it safe and miss out. Ben's alien universe gives the setting just enough personality to make it feel distinct from a generic mining game, and fans of the show will recognize familiar visual cues scattered throughout.

Short sessions work well, but it's the kind of game where one more run always seems reasonable.
