Cuphead

Cuphead draws its entire visual identity from 1930s rubber-hose animation, recreating the hand-inked lines, watercolor backgrounds, and grainy film texture of that era with remarkable accuracy. Every enemy, every environment, every death animation looks like it was pulled directly from an old theater reel.

The gameplay revolves almost entirely around boss encounters — elaborate, multi-phase fights against wildly inventive characters, from root vegetables to casino machines to celestial bodies. Patterns shift mid-battle without warning, demanding close attention and quick adjustments rather than brute memorization. Dying frequently is part of the experience, not a sign of failure.

A two-player cooperative mode lets a second character, Mugman, join the run. Whether that makes things easier or more chaotic depends entirely on who's playing. The jazz soundtrack shifts dynamically to match the pace of each fight, making the audio feel genuinely connected to the action rather than background noise.
