Rubber hoses, jazz rhythms, and a whole lot of running — Cuphead Running drops players into a relentless sprint through the hand-drawn chaos of the Cuphead universe. The 1930s cartoon aesthetic does more than look striking; it shapes the entire feel of the game, where enemies wobble and bounce in ways that feel both threatening and absurd.

Scattered stars litter each run, rewarding sharp reflexes and greedy detours off the beaten path. Miss one and you might regret it — they feed into unlocking new playable characters, each carrying their own visual personality into the mix.

The game doesn't ask much to get started, but stringing together clean runs without stumbling on the escalating hazards takes genuine focus. Obstacles arrive with little warning, and the environments shift in ways that keep assumptions dangerous. There's a satisfying rhythm to it when things click — and a very unsatisfying crunch when they don't.
