Fireboy and Watergirl 2: Light Temples

Light bends, splits, and redirects across ancient stone chambers in Fireboy and Watergirl 2: Light Temples, the puzzle-platformer sequel that trades forest paths for something far more cerebral. The temple's architecture is built around beams of colored light — manipulating them is what separates reaching the exit from tumbling into an elemental pool.

Fireboy can't touch water. Watergirl can't touch fire. Neither can survive the murky purple lakes scattered throughout. What makes the game compelling is how often the solution requires moving both characters almost simultaneously, using one to trigger a switch while the other navigates a corridor that's only briefly safe. The puzzles don't announce their logic — you discover it through failure and observation.

Solo players can switch between characters on the fly, though the levels clearly reward two people working in tandem. There's genuine satisfaction in finally cracking a room that looked impossible, watching both characters reach their exits in the same breath.
