ReCoil

ReCoil flips the platformer formula on its head — your only means of movement is the kickback from your own weapons. Shoot left to go right. Fire downward to launch yourself upward. Every pull of the trigger is both an attack and a decision about where your body ends up next.

The pink viruses scattered across each stage aren't the real danger; the spikes are. Miscalculate a recoil trajectory and you're done instantly. That tension between aggression and self-preservation is what makes the game genuinely gripping — you can't just blast everything in sight without thinking two moves ahead.

Different weapons change how the whole thing feels. Some send you drifting slowly, others snap you across the screen in a fraction of a second. Learning when to use each one, and how to chain movements together fluidly, is where the real satisfaction comes from. It's a compact but surprisingly deep mechanical puzzle wrapped inside a shooter.
