Turrets can be merged when two identical ones meet, producing something stronger, something nastier, and suddenly your whole defensive layout needs rethinking.

The merge mechanic is where most of the tension lives. Deciding whether to combine now or hold off, whether to spread firepower thin or concentrate it, these small choices stack up until the battlefield either holds or collapses entirely.

There's a particular kind of pressure that builds as the later waves roll in — enemies absorbing more hits, moving with more purpose, threatening the gaps you thought were covered. Nothing feels guaranteed for long.
