The brick

The Brick puts a familiar concept to work in a satisfying way — paddle, ball, and a wall of blocks waiting to be demolished. You keep the ball alive while it chips away at the bricks above, bouncing at increasingly awkward angles the longer a round goes on.

Power-ups drop from broken bricks and can shift things quickly. Some help, some complicate matters. Extra lives give a small cushion, but the margin for error tightens as the layout grows more demanding.
