Yoko
Bouncing on enemies, grabbing glittering coins mid-air, stumbling into hidden pockets stuffed with gems — Yoko captures that particular joy that classic platformers used to deliver so effortlessly. The character is charming without being overdone, and the worlds feel alive in that hand-crafted sort of way.
What makes it click is the rhythm. Once you find it — the timing of jumps, the pattern of enemies, the small detours worth taking — the whole thing flows. Secrets reward the curious. Rushing punishes the careless. There's a quiet satisfaction in clearing a tricky stretch cleanly.
Veteran platform fans will feel immediately at home, but the level design has enough personality to surprise even them. Yoko doesn't reinvent anything, and it doesn't need to. Sometimes a game just needs to be genuinely good at what it does.
